Press Release - AF3L concludes Partnership agreements with Lifelong Learning stakeholders to promote and strengthen education and Lifelong Learning in Africa
On 18 December 2025, the African Foundation for Lifelong Learning (AF3L) signed three partnership agreements aimed at establishing a strong and sustainable framework for cooperation in the development and promotion of lifelong learning, both at the national level and across Africa.

Capacity-Building Workshop: Lifelong Learning and the Right to Education – Strengthening National Capacities for Monitoring Adult Learning and Education
The GRALE 6 regional capacity-building workshop was held from September 16 to 18, 2025, at the Rihab Hotel in Rabat, Morocco. It brought together fifteen national teams from ministries responsible for adult learning and education and representatives of civil society organizations from Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Chad, Cameroon, Ghana, Guinea, Uganda, Togo, Mauritania, Mali, Gabon, Senegal, and Morocco. The event was organized by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) in collaboration with the African Foundation for Lifelong Learning (FA-ATLV).

On 16 September 2025, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) and the African Foundation for Lifelong Learning (FA-ATLV) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Rabat, Morocco.

Capacity-Building Workshop for GRALE 6 in Africa

The International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA) has been organized by UNESCO every 12 years since 1949, serving as a key platform for shaping the global agenda on adult learning and education (ALE). Each conference results in recommendations that guide international efforts to advance ALE. The most recent edition, CONFINTEA VII, was held in Marrakech, Morocco, in June 2022 and culminated in the adoption of the Marrakech Framework for Action (MFA), endorsed by 142 countries. This strategic document provides guidance and recommendations to strengthen ALE over the next 12 years.
